Adobe Illustrator CS2 Classroom in a Book
ISBN: 978-0321321831
Just finished this one for my Digital Imaging class.
I had very little previous experience in Illustrator when I began this book. (I had done one project before, which took about a week.) It gave a good overview of the program's capabilites, but like Photoshop CS2 Classroom in a Book it is tutorial based. However, there are some "Exploring on your own" practice projects that help you be more creative and practice the techniques you learned in the chapter. (The Photoshop book did not include this.)
One of the last chapters, Printing Artwork and Producing Color Separations, was very in-depth in explaining the requirements of commercial printers. Again, this was not covered very well in the Photoshop book. I'm a web girl so I knew very little about commercial printing before I read this.
I would suggest giving this book a try, even if you didn't like Photoshp CS2 Classroom in a Book.
